Reflection

There have been many the tools that I really liked! I will definitely use the word mosaic and picture mosaic with my students. I will use the names of all the children to make a word mosaic and use their pictures to create a picture mosaic.

I have always used technology in my classroom. However, now I have more resources to use with my students. Thanks to teacher tube, for example, I now have videos to go with songs I already use.

I was surprised at how long some of these exercises took. I am hoping that it will not take as long to do this when I apply this in my classroom. This was a great experience and I learned so much!

tool # 7

This was very hard for me to do!!!! I love the finished product and think I will use it all the time in my classroom! I think that older children can use this for class projects. However, my pre-k kids will not be able to create this on their own, but they will still be able to enjoy the digital stories.

Tool #11

Digital Citizenship

It is so important as parents and educators that we teach our children to be responsible and safe when using the internet. They need to know that if they come across a website they are unsure of or know is inappropriate they need to tell the teacher or parent asap. They also need to be aware of strangers on the internet. That while communicating with other people can be a great way to learn and make new friends they can only chat and visit those websites with adult supervision. We also need to teach students to use kind and respectful words while on the computer. The expectations we have in the classroom are also the expectations while communicating in cyber space. Cyber bullying is very real and has had devastating consequences on young people who have been targeted. It is important to do everything we can to prevent this from happening.

Tool # 10

I think it is so great that we will have i pads and i touches in our classrooms this coming school year! There are so many educational apps that the students will be able to use. It is a great way to keep their attention while they are learning!

I currently have several educational apps on my i phone (which is basically an i touch that is also a phone) that my children ages 5 and 1 1/2 are able to use with little or no adult supervision. I plan on using these some of these and other similar apps as part of my literacy and math centers.

I explored with the Baby Cortex Flash Cards, Solitaire and ABC Animals Free Lite flash Cards apps. After exploring these new apps I let my children try them out and they loved them, I am sure my students would have fun while learning with these apps as well during centers. They are great for vocabulary development and many different math skills.

Tool # 9

Jing is a great tool for students who are researching a topic. They can easily do this from school or from home. It will also be a useful tool for teachers who need a little more background information on a topic they are planning lessons for.

Skype is a great way for students to connect with other students. I think it would be very nice for students to have virtual pen pals from others schools in the US or even other countries. It is a great way to learn about other cultures from students their own age. It would also be a great way for students who are learning a foreign language to practice with native speakers.

Tool # 8

5 Little Monkeys ~ Dr. Jean

The Very Hungry Caterpillar
This was extremely difficult for me!!!! I love teacher tube!!! I never knew this site existed! I think there are so many awesome resources for all ages and grade levels. I have included two videos that I know I will use in my classroom. After help from my super smart cousin (Harris) I was finally able to embed my videos!!!!!!! YAY!!!!

Tool #6

Wikis

I think wikis can be very helpful to students who are researching a new topic, with the pre-k students we as teachers will need to help them. They can also be helpful for teachers while planning lessons. As a teacher I could also create my own wikis to go with the different units I teach throughout the year.
