Tool #6

Wikis

I think wikis can be very helpful to students who are researching a new topic, with the pre-k students we as teachers will need to help them. They can also be helpful for teachers while planning lessons. As a teacher I could also create my own wikis to go with the different units I teach throughout the year.

Tool #5

I decided to join: http://www.diigo.com

A few of the web sites I bookmarked are:

http://www.littlegiraffes.com

http://www.starfall.com/

Some of the tags I used are "fun for kids" and "pre-k activities".

I love that social bookmarking exists! I never knew about this until I did it for this tool. I think it is a great way for teachers to share their favorite websites with each other, the parents and students.

Tool #4

I love how using google docs made it so easy to share differenct documents with other people. What a great way for teachers to share lesson plans, assesments and other materials. It would also be great for sharing with parents. I also like how easy it is to now read the blogs that I subscribed to.

Tool #3

I choose to create a word mosaic using the names of my family members and a picture mosaic.

I think the word mosaic would be fun to create using all the names of the kids the class. You could also use it with poems, nusery rhymes or have the students brainstorm words from a unit they are working on. I think this would be a great activity for the teacher to do with the students but a little difficult for our kiddos in the lower grades to do on their own.

I had a little trouble with the picture mosaic but also had fun with it. It think this would be a great way for the kids and the parents to see pictures from different activities (like parties, field trips and field day). One of my friends had the great idea of using this mosaic maker to show the kids different environmental print and I thought that was a great idea that the kids would love! It would be difficult for the pre-k kids to use this without adult supervision.

Tool #2

I think PLN's are a great way to share and get ideas from other educators. It is very important for us educators to be aware of and able to use the latest techbology since this is what our students are already doing.

I think that commenting on other people's blogs and recieving comments on yourblog can be very helpful as long as we are professional and respectecful of others. Everyone can can benefit from positive critisim/reinforcement.
